MeCo Policies

Welcome to the Meeting Community or MeCo!

MeCo is a place for meeting planners and suppliers to discuss the issues surrounding the meetings industry. If you have a problem, post it and we might be able to help. This is a community for all to share and educate themselves. If you have a question, ask it and the community will try to help as best they can.

Below are the policies for MeCo on what can and can’t be posted on the Google Group, as well as what you can send or not send to our members. This is a free service, and is supported through the hard work of the moderators. To subscribe to Me Co just use the box at the bottom of the page.

Mission

The Meetings Community (MeCo) Google Group was formed on Jan. 6^th 2006. The goal of this group is to educate and foster the sharing of information on issues that affect the meetings industry.

This is what is acceptable:

This is a noncommercial Google Group. It is to be used for education and information sharing. You may have in your signature who you are and what company you work for, but not in the message itself.

Job Posting

Job posting and members seeking full time employment is allowed on MeCo.

What is not allowed is offering your services as an independent contractor, on a per project basis or any services provided by your company.

Industry Events

If you have an event or gathering (in person or web based) please forward the information to a moderator for review. If we find it appropriate to the Meetings Community we will post the information for you.

This is what is not acceptable:

· There is no marketing of you or your company allowed on this group. Any marketing attempt that is found will be dealt with in the following way.

o The first offense will result in a warning.

o The second will result in a banishment status for anyone from your company that uses MeCo

· We reserve the right to remove any post or thread that we feel is disruptive to the meetings community

· No flaming or spamming of any community members.

· The membership directory is for members to contact other members. This is not for sending marketing emails about your product or services. Sending emails to multiple members through this form about your product or services is not allowed. You are welcome to snail mail a letter to the members.

· Pursuant to Anti-Trust Laws (which apply to all of us), please be aware that there should be no discussion of salaries or how your price of your services on this public discussion forum.

· If you have a bad experience with a vendor or planner you may NOT directly post who they are on the group. The following is proper way do post.

"I had a bad experience with a hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If you want more information please contact me directly."

· Banish offenders of the rules laid out above.

· We reserve the right to remove any post or person we feel which is not acceptable to the mission of the group.

 

Joining

To Join Me Co

• You have to enter the email that you want to receive emails from MeCo in the box.
• Then Click on the subscribe button.
• You have to go to your mailbox and find the message labeled “Confirm your subscription”
• In the message there should be a link. Click on it.
• It will then take you to a box that the text above says “Who are you? We have added this to make sure we reduce the amount of spammers that get on this list.”
• You enter who you are and press the “Apply to this Group”
• You will then see a congratulations message and that your information has been forwarded to the moderators of the group. And when we approve you, you will get an email message that you have been approved.
